Bio

Work

Swain has been a web developer since 2014, when he started as a database application developer. He loved the challenge of designing custom systems to accomplish the needs of his clients. He did not, however, enjoy working with complex equations and code, so he transitioned into website design, where he was able to work with more creative challenges. He has worked as the Technology Specialist for the Bluffton, SC Welcome Center and the Heyward House Historic Center. He has been the Chief Technology Officer for startups Karen Construction and Campus Stripes Appearal. He was also used as an e-commerce consultant for startup woodworking company, Regrain Wood, before they transitioned to high-end custom work.

After ending his work with those groups, he decided to use his experience to create an IT organization that would offer creative technology solutions that could be used by anyone. TownCrafter now offers business and technology consulting and design services, with a focus on the Bluffton and Greenville, SC areas.

Personal

Matt grew up throughout North and South Carolina, going to traditional and online schools and being an active participant in Boy Scouting. He acheived the rank of Eagle Scout, served as an officer in a Gold Seal Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America, won awards for his work on various projects within the Junior Engineering and Technology Society, and finally became a Krum Scholar and Palmetto Fellow.

Swain decided to attend Clemson University for a degree in Business Management, with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship and a minor in Nonprofit Leadership. While there, he was a member of the financee commitee of Tiger Paw Productions, the major entertainment provider for the university, where he helped research prices for national touring acts and handled merchandise sales during concerts. He also served on the Fellowship Team of Clemson Wesley, a campus ministry organization.
